KUMAR SANU has remained ever popular since his debut over 30 years ago. The songs from the ‘Aashiqui’soundtrack released in 1990 propelled the relatively unknown KUMAR SANU to stardom and to his first Filmfare award for ‘Best Male Playback Singer’ – his first out of five he would win consecutively, the only singer to achieve this feat.
Largely influenced by the singing style of Kishore Kumar, KUMAR SANU was initially seen as a clone of the legendary singer. But with the subsequent popularity of his songs, KUMAR SANU became a name to be reckoned with himself. Today he has become a national icon, often imitated by the new generation of singers.
